Hide new role from "Change role to" dropdown

I’ve created a new role that is in between a Network Admin and a Site Admin on multisite. I’d only like Network Admins to be able to set this role on a user.

How can I prevent this role showing up in the dropdown on subsites? I still want to be able to assign other roles through that dropdown.

This feature is included into upcoming version 4.17, which is at the beta testing stage now.

Use “Other Roles” button in order to block selected roles from the current one:
