Restrict media library to user’s own media files only

Sorry, I’ve searched the WP support forum and this one here as well.
I couldn’t find a way to restrict access to the entire media library for specific or all user roles except administrator. I just don’t find an option in the plugin to address this issue.

The users on my site may upload images. However when they do, they can see the entire WP media library. I want them to see only their own uploaded files.

What am I missing? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I suppose that with own images only it would be applicable to see own posts/pages only too.

Try ‘Own data only’ option at user profile or his role, after activation of this add-on

Thanks for the quick response.
I’ve activated the add-on, and I’ve followed the article. But this seems to cover the setting for individual users, not for the entire user role.

I mean I can edit the user and keep the setting at “Look at roles”, but when I move to the role editor there is no option to restrict the role to “Own data only”.

Just to add to it, at the moment I use the “Admin and Site Enhancements” plugin which gives me exactly this option to restrict users to seeing their own media only.
I’m just not a fan of using a plethora of different plugins. And it seems somehow counter productive when I already have URE Pro.

By default, URE looks to the user profile settings and to the user role both. There is no need to change something on the user level if it’s not the individual setting exactly for this user.

Go to the Users->User Role Editor. Select user role, like ‘Author’, click ‘Posts Edit’. You will see the “Own data only” checkbox at the opened window.
