KeymasterHi,
It’s still there. URE shows this option only for users with ‘edit_others_posts’ capability.

KeymasterHi Björn,
Is it possible to look at your settings online?
If Yes, then send site URL, admin login credentials to support [at-sign] role-editor.com
I will check what may go wrong.Vladimir
KeymasterThanks for the suggestion. I fully agree with you.
It’s a subject for further development. I will realize this feature this year.Vladimir
KeymasterHi,
I just returned from a 2 weeks vacation.
Send direct download links for the plugins listed above. I will check what permissions they require.

KeymasterExcuse me for a delay with answer – I had 2 weeks vacation.
This code is not included currently to the Pro version and thus it is not available there as an option.
Thanks for the suggestion. It seems that I really need to add this option to a Pro version with one of the next updates.

This is a feature active at User Role Editor by default.
Any user with ID not equal 1 (WordPress default admin user) which has ‘edit_users’ capability does not see users with ‘administrator’ role.
Pay attention that if user has ‘ure_manage_options’ capability URE counts him as a superadmin and does not apply to him any restrictions.Another way to restrict what users are shown (available for editing/deletion) to the current user is Other roles access add-on.

KeymasterHi Oskar,
Excuse for a delay with answer – I had 2 weeks vacation.
It’s possible to hide/block unneeded admin menu items protected by the same capability which is required for a role using Admin menu access add-on.
Vladimir
KeymasterHi Anne,
Admin menu items from plugins protected by the same ‘edit_posts’ capability may be available to the user with ‘author’ role.
Admin menu blocking add-on may help in this case.Vladimir
KeymasterHi Björn,
Excuse for delay with answer – I had 2 weeks vacation.
Did you apply Admin menu access restrictions for role of this user?
If you use “Block not selected” model for admin menu restriction, it may be a reason why user is redirected to to the dashboard when he try to open URL with additional parameter. Read carefully the final part of the documentation page.
I hope that switching to the “block selectes” model or tuning “URL arguments white list” will help you to resolve this issue.Vladimir

Posts edit restrictions add-on will help with your task.
It allows input category ID to special field at the user profile. User will can post and edit existing post inside of that category only.Vladimir

You need to open post you wish to protect and select a role(s) to which you allow view it. Then select action for all visitors who does not have that role.
Post is excluded from all WordPress listings in case “Return HTTP 404 error” action is selected.
Did you try this option?Vladimir
KeymasterHi Bjorn,
I decided to postpone the 5.51 release until May, 15th.
It’s not a good idea to publish new version just before 2 weeks vacation, as I can not provide support at the period from May 2nd until May 14th.Vladimir
KeymasterI may look at your site on-line. If that’s applicable send administrator credentials to support [at-sign] role-editor.com and describe what user, to what post type, what categories should have edit access.
Vladimir
KeymasterI see. I thought you write about 2 roles only, as at the provided example. The only interactive way via WordPress UI is to process users with the same roles list group by group and grant them new roles list except the older one.
The only alternative – PHP script which will select all users with subscriber role and then revoke ‘subscriber’ role from them one by one.
