User Role Editor version 4.6
User Role Editor version 4.6 is available for download in both (free and Pro) versions. The changes are:
– Content editing restriction: It is possible to differentiate permissions for posts/pages creation and editing. Use the “Activate “Create Post/Page” capability” option for that.
Turning on this option you automatically add “create_posts” and “create_pages” capabilities to the list of WordPress core user capabilities. After that user with “edit_posts” capability (even administrator) will can not create new post or page until you apparently include this capability to his user role. “edit_posts” will permit just to edit posts. Go to “User Role Editor” and turn on “create_posts”, “create_pages” capability” for “Administrator” role and other roles of your choice after this option activation.

Restrict users access to Gravity Forms
If you need to restrict users access to Gravity Forms, User Role Editor Pro may do it on the per form base. How does it work?
1st, you need activate this feature at User Role Editor Settings page (Settings->User Role Editor->Additional Modules) – turn on the “Activate per form user access management for Gravity Forms” option for that (the option is shown only is “Gravity Forms” plugin is active). Do not forget to save your changes.
After that site administrator can see the new section “Gravity Forms Restrictions” at the selected user profile. Section contains input field “Allow access to forms with ID (comma separated)”. This field will appear at profile of those users only who have some capabilities from the “Gravity Forms” capabilities list, e.g. “gravityforms_edit_forms”, “gravityforms_view_entries”, etc.

Block user login
If you need to block user login at WordPress, especially if you wish to block login for the group of users, you may assign them special empty role, created with the help of “User Role Editor”. Let’s name it “block-login”, for example. “Empty” means that role does not contain any capability. Role Editor include the ‘read’ capability into new role by default. Turn it off in order to get empty role. It’s easy, right? But user with empty role will see the message “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page” at empty grey background after every login try.
Is it possible to make this blocking more user friendly, if this action could be named user friendly at all? The answer is “Yes”.
