Restrict Access to Custom Taxonomy Category

I am needing a way to limit a user to all items in a category that is part of a custom post type. Specifically, I am using The Events Calendar and need to limit a user to all events in a specific category. How can this be accomplished?

I have tried entering the category id# in the “with category/taxonomy ID” field but it didn’t work, the user did not have any access. If I remove all restrictions, they can see all events.

I am using User Role Editor Pro and have successfully limited them to specific pages.

Pay attention, that 1st, user should have edit access to the event, in order to see it. If event was created by other user, this user should be able ‘edit_others_events’ or similar capability. In other case such event will be hidden from user, even if you allow valid category ID for him.
