I run URE on a multisite intstallation of WordPress used for extranets.
At the moment I am running both the Members Plugin and User Role Editor. The only thing I actually use the Members Plugin for is locking down to require a login before accessing any site in the network.

Can the same functionality be implemented via URE or by hacking the code?

Also, does URE play well with the Members Plugin to your knowledge?

    1) In order to force any visitor to login 1st:
    – create folder wp-content/mu-plugins
    – create there file force-login.php
    – insert this PHP code:

File with code about is so-called 'must-use' plugin. This code will be executed automatically.

    2) I have not any reports about problems between URE and Members plugins.
