Ability to limit categories available to content authors in certain roles.

We would love to have the ability to restrict users in a WordPress role from being able to create new posts using a certain category. We have an emergency notification plugin on our school website that places the content of an emergency notification post in the top banner section of school website main page if the category of ‘alert’ is chosen for post. We want to prevent staff from posting messages in this alert banner area for non emergency messages to parents. So we want to prevent all but users of admin role from being able to choose ‘alert’ as category for posts.

Possible to do with plugin currently? Possible future feature?

Hi Trevor,

It’s possible to allow/prohibit editing/creation of the post with selected categories for user or/and role using “Posts, pages edit restrictions” add-on.
